Value Life, Get An Insurance Policy

June 4th, 2008 JonCaldwell Posted in Family Concerns No Comments »

Instant Issue Term life insurance is a conducive policy for people who do not want to waste time or don’t want to consume much energy and effort to shop around for term life insurance. In cases like that, most insurance carriers give consumers an online and easy form to research, compare and buy a policy instantly without even talking to another person. Moreover, there are no medical exam requirements to complete the policy which is quite an attractive factor. Although there may be a setback for this like its coverage level which, is generally smaller at a more expensive monthly premium.

Life insurance seems to be not as highly as needed when one is newly retired. But even though when your children are all grown up and on their own already, and maybe your spouse could live comfortably with his own retirement savings, there can still be certain circumstances in which many find themselves in need of financial support or back up. If a senior citizen has a certain illness, the tendency is to live with one of the children and this may bring financial dilemma on the affected family members. So better make sure that anyone who relies on your income is covered and that any debts you may posses will not be passed to loved ones in case of death.

If you are single, do not have a family or children and do not own a home, your life insurance needs are most probably not as high as they are in other stages of your life. It is because of the simple fact that who would assume the burden of paying for the final costs if you are to pass away. According to studies, single women often lack satisfactory life insurance coverage, 64 percent of American women do not even carry life insurance at all. In fact, most single moms who may be on a tighter budget than those of normal family with dual income, cannot afford life insurance so the tendency is they go on with different stages in their life risking death without any insurance coverage.

If you work in a company, you will be paying premiums for sponsored health coverage based on risk profiles that take into account factors such as the age and health of the whole group of employees. This kind of system can expand to life insurance as well. If ever you are thinking if it is a good deal, perhaps you should consider that you are paying a premium based on the risk profile of the entire employee base. Meaning, if you are a healthy person with a good “physical build,” you could be paying a premium that factor in a sickly, 50-plus employer. It doesn’t sound too fair for you, does it? So even if you have a policy because of your job, it could be better to cancel it after you get a more affordable and customized life insurance policy.

To be able to save money and have lower premiums, it is advisable to keep your height to weight ratio at or near the ideal range for your type of body. If you have recently lost weight and have kept it that way but already have purchased a term life insurance, make sure to notify your agent. And if your agent fails or disregards to provide you lower rates, perhaps it is time for you to shop around. Insurance carriers use different health ratios to decide appropriate rates hence shopping around may uncover both possible savings and better insurance coverage. And you may request for a medical exam to accelerate the process but your rates are locked in for the term of the policy so the agent cannot penalize you if you gain weight.

Tornadoes - What In The World Can We Do When We Are Faced With The Worst Season Of Tornadoes In Decades

June 3rd, 2008 GlenB. Posted in Family Concerns No Comments »

Already.

Deadly tornado pictures in 2008 are full of sad memories, dreams and destroyed lives thrown throughout the Internet.

What our citizens globally faced with and what can we do about it?

For the first time in modern history would actually have a choice. Apparently the Stewart principal of global healing synergy has worked successfully 10 times in a row on deadly hurricanes.

The greatest challenge now is to inspire as many people as possible. I say this because of the nature part of our greatest challenge. Tornadoes, tsunamis and other unexpected storms or acts of mother nature may come without a moments notice.

We typically have up to a week to manifest a hurricane reduction. This is because of the tracking abilities of local and national radar coverage. That is not always the rule however. This is primarily due to this godsend of discovery for mankind

Deadly Tornados Across The US - What Can We Do Prepare Ourselves Properly?

Deadly Tornados Across the US - Forward

The rate of Deadly tornados in the US has gone up shockingly in the last several years. what can be done to reduce the severity of these deadly tornadoes? Glen B. Stewart is father of hurricane reduction technology may provide the answer. his work has earned global acclaim on six continents for protecting ourselves from deadly hurricane disasters.

How can a human being possibly lessen severe effects of a deadly hurricane? It is a question involving Ancient civilizations to fully understand. Many of you heard of Dr. Joe Vitale as well as the movie The Secret. The Law of Attraction was arguably the best insight to be gleaned from the entire movie. I’ve known Dr. Joe Vitale for about 5 1/2 years through e-mails and occasional phone conversation. Joe indirectly offered the idea of what can be done with some of my extensive mind over matter research.

Joe Vitale mentioned a forward thinking study in a now pivotal e-mail. There were 19 scientific studies about a group of humans focusing on a positive intention. This group can actually manifest peaceful harmonics and positively influence a city. These landmark results were proven using transcendental meditation to create a more peaceful society. one case study was demonstrated in Washington, DC and as a result the crime rate was reduced remarkably

About three years ago the US was faced with a deadly category five hurricane named Hurricane Rita. A category five hurricane means that group be sustained winds were 165 miles an hour or over. Rita was every bit of it

Help me stop Rita was Dr. Joe Vitale’s emotional outcry in his e-mail with only a day before hurricane Rita was predicted to hit Houston, Texas. Joe

Wireless Nanny Cams

June 2nd, 2008 VanWhitsett Posted in Family Concerns No Comments »

So you might be asking: Just what is a wireless nanny cam? Well, while the “wireless” part is more or less self explanatory, nanny cam deserves an explanation. Basically, these are surveillance cameras. Ah yes, you say, that explains the cam, but why nanny cams, specifically? There are two reasons – one being that these sorts of surveillance cameras are sometimes used to check up on what children are doing while their parents are at work or otherwise away from home (thus “nannying” the children in a way), the second reason being that some who are worried that housekeepers, nannies and other domestic staff will pilfer from their home will employ these cameras in an attempt to watch over the staff – thus “nanny cam”. It’s all simpler than it sounds.

Obviously, these cameras have far more uses than simply keeping a watchful eye on children or employees. These sorts of small surveillance cameras are often employed as security cameras. Their small size and wireless communication capacities lend themselves well to this function. The cameras can be easily concealed and placed almost anywhere that they are desired – of course, many would argue that a hidden camera has less deterrent value than one which is obvious. This being as it may, these cameras can be useful as part of a security system for the home or workplace.

What are my options for viewing footage from a wireless nanny cam?

Given that these cameras are wireless, there is no need to be limited by the length of cables readily available in your local electronics store. The output of the camera can even be streamed over the web and viewed via a secure website with a username and password required to log on and see the video. The video can also be sent to your cell phone if it supports this functionality and also can be configured to send video when motion is detected or at specified times.

Besides streaming video, a wireless nanny cam can also record via a traditional VCR with a wireless adapter for the video input or directly on to the hard drive of a computer on your wireless network. This gives the owner of a wireless nanny cam plenty of options for how and when they can view the video captured by this very versatile security and surveillance solution.

Whether you are considering purchasing wireless nanny cams to keep an eye on your latchkey children between when they get home from school and you get home from work, to check up on an employee you have some suspicions about, to act as a part of your security to either deter burglaries or catch the culprits in the act, even just find out just what the dog and cat do all day while you’re gone, these cameras can get it done for you. With so many options for capturing and viewing video, placement and the ease of wireless digital technologies, these are certainly versatile little gadgets which can find an application in any home.

Do you know who’s really watching your child? Wireless Nanny Cams may be the best investment you can make in assuring yourself of the safety and well-being of your child. Don’t be in the dark about Nanny Cams.

Childproofing Your Home

May 31st, 2008 BeverlySugarman Posted in Family Concerns No Comments »

As your baby begins to crawl and explore his new home, you need to be aware of all the elements that exist in the normal home environment that can be hazardous to your child. Child-proofing your home before your baby can crawl is a good way to ensure that you have plenty of time to be thorough and recheck your home for anything you may have missed before your baby can find it.

One of the first purchases that you will need to make to childproof your home is safety locks and latches for your cabinets and drawers. These devices are easily installed and should be placed on any cabinet that contains medicines and cleaning supplies as well as other chemicals in your house that could pose a threat to your child. Locks should also be placed on drawers that contain knives and other sharp objects as well as “junk” drawers that may contain tools such as screws and screwdrivers. Once you put these latches and locks in place, you may want to place things in these cabinets that you normally leave out, such as containers for loose change and bathing items such as soap and toothpaste. To be on the safe side, you should go through your home and look at everything, locking up anything that could harm your child in any way.

Safety gates are another necessity as infants begin to crawl. These gates should be placed anywhere that you feel the child needs to be prevented from going. Many people use these to prevent a child’s access to kitchens and bathrooms. The “pressure” safety gates are ideal for these rooms. These gates expand to fit tightly in place, but can be moved with ease when not in use. More permanent gates that screw permanently into the wall are best when blocking stairs as these are sturdier than the “pressure” style. With either style, you should avoid the older V-shaped design as children have been known to get their heads stuck in the gaps.

Another safety feature that you may want to purchase is door locks and door knob covers. The door locks are more permanent than the child safety gates and you may want to place these on basement and attic doors, as well as on doors leading to a garage or a swimming pool. You should install these locks high enough that a small child cannot reach them even by standing on a chair. Door knob covers are temporary fixtures that fit right over the doorknob that denies children access to certain areas but enables adults to easily open the door. You may want to install these covers on front and back door knobs leading outside so that you can still open these exits quickly in case of a fire or other emergencies.

Outlet covers and plates are another item that is necessary to childproof your house, especially when your child begins to crawl. Most electrical outlets are eye-level to a baby on the floor, and the natural instinct for the child is to stick objects in the hole. Many outlet covers just plug right into the outlet to keep the empty holes out of sight. When purchasing these items, you should make sure that they are not easily removed by children and are large enough so a child cannot choke on them.

These products are just a few of many that you can purchase to childproof your home. By childproofing, you can ensure that your baby has the safest home environment possible.

The Link Between Teen Addiction And Teen Suicide

May 31st, 2008 SimonP. Posted in Family Concerns No Comments »

One of the greatest, but too often unspoken, dangers of teen drug use and addiction is the high risk of suicide that tends to accompany it. Teens who use drugs regularly are more likely to consider suicide as well as to act upon their thoughts. According to the American Psychiatric Association, many teens suffer from depression. In many cases, teens will often “self-medicate” with drugs in order to avoid exposing themselves and their problems to adults. The use of drugs does not alleviate the problems, but instead, usually aggravate them, leaving the teen with a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness. This places them at greater risk for suicide attempts. Drug use and dependency clouds judgment, and lowers the teen’s natural survival instinct. Drug use affects the chemical balance of the brain, intensifying feelings of sadness, depression and loneliness. Periods of withdrawal from the drug, and intense feelings of crashing profoundly affect the young person’s mind and mood. While these factors exist in adult addicts, they are more intensified in the young adult and teen, particularly due to his dependency upon adults.

In addition, a frequent user of drugs already has the means at his disposal to act on suicidal thoughts. Overdosing is one of the easiest and most common methods of suicide. Suicide is the third leading cause of death amongst young people from the ages of fifteen to twenty-four. Some experts suggest that as many as ninety percent of those teens who commit suicide abuse drugs, though others estimate that the number is closer to between fifty- three and sixty percent. Teens, especially today, are under a tremendous amount of pressure. Caught in the crossroads between childhood and adulthood, teens are filled with conflicts about themselves, their identity, and their place in the world. These factors, coupled with their perception that the adult world doesn’t or can’t, understand their angst, leave them vulnerable and isolated. These factors contribute to both addiction and suicidal intention, both of which also feed on the other.

Methods for treating a teen with suicidal intentions are very similar to treating teens with addictions. Most of the root causes are quite similar. The most important thing for an adult to provide the teen, is an avenue of communication. It is important that the teen feel that he has someone to turn towards to express his feelings and problems. He or she need to feel that they are not isolated. There are people who care about them. They are not the only one who is struggling with these problems. If a teen does not believe this, then no other treatment can truly be effective. However, this is of course, only the first step. The teen needs to receive professional guidance and possibly medical treatment to deal with his addiction.

No matter the cause and solution, the connection between teen substance addiction and suicide is too strong to stand to the side. Of course there has always been preventative programs centering around education, but more active steps need to be planned. In truth the most successful stoppage of teen drug use, is showing the young person that true pleasure comes from hard work and not the quick fix of drug use. If this can be accomplished then the teen will over time turn from addictive substances lower his or her risk of suicide.

Protecting Your Loved Ones With Medical Alarms

May 31st, 2008 GarryNeale Posted in Family Concerns No Comments »

Medical alarms, sometimes referred to as medical alert systems, are essentially tiny personal emergency medical devices that are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The purpose of these miracle devices is to provide protection for seniors and those in ill health or a weakened state. If your loved one experiences a medical emergency, the monitoring system provided by medical alarms makes it possible to reach help immediately and easily.

A medical alert device is usually wireless and small - a modern-age medical alarm is small enough to be worn as a necklace, pendant, watch, on a key chain, or as a medical alert bracelet. Most of these devices, such as a medical alert necklace, are waterproof as well, ensuring the person wearing it won’t unintentionally cause damage.

Seniors enjoy a wide breadth of benefits from wearing a medical alarm. For one, medical alert devices allow seniors to live a fully independent life without sacrificing a sense of safety. Providing security and instant access to emergency services, a medical alarm can do wonders in improving the life of your aging loved ones.

These systems are easy to set up and use - all you need is a reliable phone line in the residence so that the alarm can contact the appropriate services if and when they are required. Seniors usually wear the device to ensure they have access to help at all times. Working through a wireless connection to the telephone line and emergency console, a medical alarm allows for the ultimate in flexibility, as the console can be installed anywhere within the home.

How does the system work? Simply put, a medical alarm system dives into action when the person wearing the device presses the emergency button in the event of a problem. This activates the medical alert system wirelessly and sends information to the console. At this point the system is instructed to either contact the company’s 24 hour response center, or it will automatically dial the list of emergency contacts you have stored on the alarm system. If no answer is received on the other end, system will continue to dial the emergency numbers, and resort to contacting 911 if necessary.

Most alert systems include certain basic features, including two-way communication between you and the emergency response center. Most medical alarm systems operate with the use of wireless technology so that communication can be established as quickly as possible.

Emergency auto dialers are another feature to seek out when shopping for medical alarm systems. Systems with this option allow you to program numbers into the alert system, including those of family, friends, doctors, neighbors, and anyone else you need.

A bio-monitoring alarm system is another excellent feature to consider. When a system has this feature, the device monitors heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and other bodily functions.

Medical pagers built into a systems are an added feature for day-to-day living that reminds seniors when to take their medication. When medical alarm systems are equipped with an extra feature such as this, you can rest assured knowing your loved one is truly protected. Systems installed with MedicAlert add even more protection, as a system with this feature can identify a patient and their known health problems. Medical alarm systems have come a long way over the years. And with medical alert devices making strides each year, you can be sure the devices of the future will be even more advanced.

A senior medical alarm is about more than just convenience - it is about freedom, independence, and peace of mind. These devices make it easier for your loved ones and yourself to feel secure. A medical alert device acts as a lifeline that could save someone you love in an emergency situation.

How To Determine The Proper Coverage And Time Period For Term Life Insurance Policy

May 30th, 2008 SharonTaylor Posted in Family Concerns No Comments »

For many, the concept of term life insurance is like a word from the dictionary of a foreign language. People seem to understand they need life insurance, but are not quite sure how to go about acquiring it. Understanding the rates and prices for life insurance can be confusing at best. Understanding the time that you need and the correct coverage period for term life insurance can be even more confusing. The most difficult part of understanding life insurance is not one of these two issues, however. Often, the hardest challenge with life insurance is figuring out the amount of coverage you actually need. Sure, it is easy to get caught up in all of the zeros and assume that the amount you have randomly chosen will be enough to cover every expense but how can you determine exactly how much your term life insurance policy should cover?

Your Home and Term Life Insurance

One of the first major considerations is your home. You definitely want your term life insurance policy to cover your mortgage payment so your family does not have to worry about trying to keep up with the expenses that are brought on by the house. How can you make sure that you have it all covered, however? The largest payment, the monthly mortgage, should be the first thing on your mind. Also, know the cost of the homeowners insurance and make sure that can be covered as well. Optional coverage can include repair costs, utilities and other general upkeep. These are not life necessities, but may be an option.

Your Family and Term Life Insurance

Another key consideration is the finances and debts that your family currently has. Are your cars paid off? Any car that is not currently completely paid off should be considered in your coverage amount. You need to be sure that you can cover the costs of car payments that may need to be made as you do not want to leave your family with more car payments than they can handle. Car insurance payments should also be considered. Your family needs time to adjust to the debts and to sort them out. Making sure that they have the money in case of an untimely death, is crucial. Learn more about term life insurance at http://hovancikfamily.blogspot.com/2008/05/life-insurance.html.

Your Kids and Term Life Insurance

When thinking of your kids, the most common question parents ask is, “How are we going to put them through college?” If you have kids, you should figure in college costs for all of your kids. Making sure you have coverage for college (whether your children are attending now or will be in the future) can help to make sure that your family can afford to do the things you would like them to, even if you are not there. By making sure college is covered, you can take the burden away from your children from having to worry about how they are going to get through college.

Term life insurance is a complex beast that can be difficult for some to understand. But spending a little time online reading makes the topic much easier to understand. Making sure you understand your debt and possible future debt, helps you calculate an approximate amount coverage you may need. Just like anything understanding life insurance requires some research, and some understanding, but doing the work can help you to know that you have a plan that will work for your family. Start researching term life insurance today and read more about what may be best for you and your family at http://chalyza.blogspot.com/2008/05/life-insurance.html.

My First Microscope - Stereo Or Compound?

May 30th, 2008 CharlesCrookenden Posted in Family Concerns No Comments »

“Should I buy a compound or a stereo microscope for my child?” is perhaps the most frequently asked question to the staff at The Microscope Store, LLC. For those who do not have children already fascinated by dissection, blood cells and smears, the answer is almost always, “Buy a stereo microscope”. Such a definitive response is bound to raise an outcry from some experienced microscopists, but the reality is that a stereo microscope wins the vote for a number of solid reasons.

The overwhelming reason for buying a stereo microscope is that it is the type of microscope that you need to view specimens that kids love: bugs, worms, leaves, feathers, hair. Anything that is visible to the naked eye and that can easily be found in the yard or house. Since it takes a moment to set up a stereo microscope, the child has the instant gratification of viewing what he or she just found before there is any danger of wandering attention. In our house the wonders of a housefly’s eye, a bee’s stinger and shiny rocks have all caused cries of delight to ring out through the house: “Look, Dad, that’s so cool”. Music to a parent’s ears. More often than not, such cries of excitement attract younger siblings and other family members so that poor housefly can easily turn into a fully participative, cross-generational occasion. Roll over the TV and video game! We keep our stereo microscope handy so there is little danger of it being relegated to the black hole of the children’s cupboard.

Part of a kid’s pleasure in a stereo microscope lies in the fact that a stereo microscope is binocular and provides 3D images of the specimen. A compound microscope requires a child to squint through a single eyepiece at a flat image. In other words, that bug is real and tangible in its magnified glory.

A stereo microscope is also easier to actually operate than a compound microscope. The simplest form of stereo microscope is a dual power or turret microscope. It is perfect for that first ‘real’ microscope; in other words, one that is not a toy. It has two objectives, usually 1x/3x or 2x/4x and with 10x eyepieces, therefore, two levels of magnification – 10x/30x or 20x/40x. A child needs only to learn to switch from one objective to another in order to change the magnification power and then to focus. In addition, a dual power microscope typically has a single coarse focusing knob so there is no added complication of both coarse and fine focusing found on compound microscopes.

A decent stereo microscope is also cheaper than an equivalent compound microscope as the optics are simpler. For about $250, you can buy a stereo microscope that will last

On the other hand, compound microscopes are complex. Typically, they include four of five objectives and are designed for viewing specimens not visible to the naked eye – cellular structures and the like. As a result, you have to buy prepared slides or make your own prepared slides. The results while often stunning, are not as immediately gratifying to younger children. Moreover, at higher magnifications, they are more difficult to focus. In other words, compound microscopes are better suited to older children or to younger children who are genuine enthusiasts. Typically, children begin to attune to a compound microscope around the age of 5th Grade although this is, of course, an overly simple generalization.

That said, any microscope has benefits across the generations. For the kids, it offers all sorts of cool, phantasmagoric images to equal the most evil aliens imagined. Yet it also opens their eyes to a completely different and very real perspective on the world. For parents, it is something other than a video game or TV to share with them while also lending the satisfying knowledge that, apart from being fun, it is also educational! Under a microscope, the kids can view whatever they like. They learn and perhaps most important, they retain some wonderful visual images that help fire their imagination in other ways. You will doubtless witness some innovative new alien life form drawings to prove it!
